Farscape live-ish blog: Season 4, episodes 15-18
Occlumency class time!
"I ain't going in your icosahedron" I love John being the type of nerd to throw around the word "icosahedron" casually. :D
Rygel: Where else will I get the advantage in a fair fight? Excellent point.
If D'Argo really had killed Lo'Lann in a fit of rage, would the Sebaceans really have sent him to jail? Do they not have, idk, mental asylums? Would it be seen as "reasonable" punishment for marrying early?
"the Scarrans would torture the wormhole knowledge out of you, then kill you." "Aww, Scorpy-Sue, no, we're so tight, you'd kill me first." Probably true!
"I've thought about killing him for half my life" -- I still don't completely understand the timeline/Luxan aging.
Obviously this could be a fakeout, but Lo'Lann lying about D'Argo's rage episodes so he won't leave her feels kind of victim blamey. :/ (Ditto for the suicide claim, although that's not real either.)
What is Macbon's goal here? It feels like he risks taunting D'Argo into killing him.
"Killing him would have been a mercy, I'm not that enlightened." Oof.
Sikozu: Now will you take us seriously? Negotiator: I'd like to take you...seriously.
Musically-toned acoustics seem like a neat premise for a massage treatment.
"Let's just tell high command that Grayza is power hungry" just how many Peacekeeper leaders do you want to have ousted, Aeryn.
Noranti gets DNA-altered to look young and wrinkle-free, and hates it. Chiana has an "hi officer, nothing going on over here, just kissing my girlfriend" moment. Maybe Talika was a good bi awakening after all. ;)
Yeah, now they have to save Grayza to prevent her leaking the fact that the Peacekeepers don't have wormholes. We need that domino meme where the first domino is "John accidentally kills Tauvo Crais" and the last one is "Grayza is irreversibly contaminated."
Oh and here comes the beacon mentioned in the title, that took a minute.
DNA alteration :( (Okay, maybe the imposter technology was not related to the planet's tech, but it makes more sense if it is!)
Sikozu's full name is "Sikozu Svala Shanti Sugaysi Shanu," haha.
Weird music, is this like the Encarta song or what?
They talk about Aeryn as "Officer Sun" as if she's still one of the Peacekeepers, wouldn't she at least correct that part?
"Aunt Olivia"? Does John have two sisters or is this a mistake, shouldn't Olivia be Bobby's mom?
Rygel's face covered in sugar and breakfast toppings as he threatens Earth.
Rogue Leviathan, season 3 callback!
"What's the worst thing about being in space?" "No toilet paper." Foreshadows pandemic memes.
Chiana: "How can you tell when I'm lying?" Sikozu: "You open your mouth and words come out."
The guy with his face blurred out just credited as "High level source, intelligence community" haha.
"Do religions hate each other?" "Of course not, but their followers do." Oof.
Worrying about the prejudices interspecies kids might face, and no one has talked about Jothee or D'Argo/Lo'Laan's relationship. :/
Lol at Chiana being friends with the rat who stumbled across Noranti's rat poison.
I like this Buddhist guy, he's chill.
Rygel likes phone sex hotlines, lol.
Haha yes we're getting a continuity nod to the time travel appearance! It's described as 1985 now, which makes more sense (Halloween 1985 would have been a few months before the Challenger)--did the actual episode call it 1986 or was that just a TVTropes error?
"They're putting microchips in our heads" yeah this aged surprisingly well.
"Moya is now phobic regarding wormholes" Can't blame her!
"I'll trade you wormholes if you help me get Aeryn back." Wow, that whole resolve/fake breakup thing didn't last long. :/
Overall I liked the story-within-a-story structure of this one, nice to keep in touch with what's going on on Earth even if the main plot isn't.
Scorpius: "The Scarrans will mind-rape her." Yeah, and you or Grayza wouldn't?
Scorpius: "It would be pretty ironic if we were to die together here, after everything." John: "Yeah, we're a regular Romeo and Juliet."
Wormholes make everything possible. "Somewhere the Cubs are winning the World Series. Don't ask." :D :D :D
Velorek callback!
Scorpius: "Let's just kill Rygel and make Stark cross them over." Pragmatic!
I enjoy the prison tropes we get with Aeryn here--the slightly sympathetic nurse, the fellow prisoners, the "better to die than be killed" resolve, even taking the developing fetus seriously...but they seem like an episode from another show, this is pretty crazy dark even for Farscape!
