For once you talk about fandoms I actually am familiar with (and usually when I read Ace people's takes on fandom it's fandoms I don't really know like Sherlock, Doctor Who, Supernatural, etc.) But the Animorphs series was a fave of mine in 4th and 5th grade and still holds and special place in my heart... and of course Harry Potter... :D

I too am a fanfiction writer and I'm very tempted to write an Ace character but so far I have not! I've written a lot of fics in the "Gen" category where a platonic relationship is the focus or some other storyline is the focus like "Oh my god I'm now 16, pregnant, and homeless because my parents just kicked me out" so that I can avoid thinking about writing about "The sex" too much (and in that story which simply expands on a canon storyline in season 1 of Glee, Quinn is devoutly religious like she is on the show and has taken a vow of celibacy so when sex does come up, I can write about her avoiding having it lmao! Even if for different reasons than I would avoid it, hey, it's still avoiding it.) I think being Ace has influenced what I'm drawn to write about in ways that are hard to pin down and that in general, I'd probably write more about sexual feelings if I had felt any, because in general I tend to imagine myself in characters' shoes when describing their points of view on the world, and it's inherently difficult to imagine sexual feelings when I have nothing to compare them to.
