primeidealIt is still very much the case that sometimes, the things you get "fannish" about in the sense of "wanting to create fanworks for/speculate about/ask 'what-if'" are not always the best-made, most-fantastic, flawless pieces of art, but rather the ones that leave you irritated by the wasted potential and frustrating artistic decisions, somewhere midway between the spectrum of "garbage" and "perfection."
It is also the case that sometimes, the minor characters and connections you care about and think deserve more focus, or at the very least, a quick writeup or synopsis of all the canonical family tree/timeline stuff for meta purposes, are not ones that the fandom at large agrees with you on.
Which is to say: to the math teacher in the Houston metro area who is using the names of Fremen characters from Dune in your word problems, I see you, and I appreciate you.
