In his proposals for the Turing Test, Alan Turing suggested that a computer respondent should be able to answer--or deflect--questions like "Please write me a sonnet on the subject of the Forth Bridge."

The Forth Bridge was originally going to be designed by Thomas Bouch, but he lost favor after his Tay Bridge collapsed.

The Tay Bridge is memorialized in poetry. "The Tay Bridge Disaster" was written by one of the worst poets in history, William McGonagall. Minerva McGonagall is named after him.
