Her partner was Alfred Voynich, the collector for whom the Voynich manuscript is named. Before that, she had an affair with Sidney Reilly, who was called "the greatest spy in history" and an inspiration for James Bond. She wrote a novel called "The Gadfly" about a well-travelled secret agent which was based on his life, but it wasn't until 2016 that their extended family dug up letters confirming yes, they were involved with each other.
