primeideal: Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader duelling (luke)
Conventional wisdom says "don't blog/social media-ize about your rejections, you don't want to look like a whiner and the other markets you re-submit to don't want to feel like they're just a fallback plan." So, I won't go into details, but I recently had a short story rejected from a project/anthology/special edition/thingy I was excited about and felt like it was a good fit for. I got some supportive feedback, though, which was like "X worked for me but Y didn't, it felt like there was going to be more to Y that didn't materialize." And it's like...I'm not sure if all the layers of Y made sense, but there was supposed to be a couple of levels to it! Sometimes I feel like my evolution as a writer has been:

me: writes things
them: no, that makes too much sense, True Art is Incomprehensible
me: oh, okay. writes something else
them: nooooooo, not like that

But anyway, looking for other markets for that one. :)

Also bouncing around a couple different assignments/original ideas. One of the assignments I have open it's like, this could either be a crack-treated-seriously prompt or crack-treated-crackily, but it's getting to the point where I really need to pick one and go with it.
