Skimming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and I noticed a funny detail which I don't remember realizing or having seen pointed out (it's very likely I have and just forgot, it's been a while):
In the chapter when Harry drinks the Felix Felicis, he decides on a whim that he's going to go down and see Hagrid, so he puts on his invisibility cloak to sneak out of the dorm. At first, he's with Ron and Hermione; Lavender, who's in a rocky relationship with Ron, is like "Ron, what are you doing alone with Hermione at this hour?" Then, as he leaves the Gryffindor area, he bumps into Ginny outside the Fat Lady's portrait. Ginny turns to her current boyfriend, Dean, and is like "stop trying to help me up, I don't need your chivalry."
Two chapters later, Harry returns from his meeting with Dumbledore to find that Lavender finally broke up with Ron over this slight (Ron had been wanting to break up with her for a while but was too chicken), and Ginny broke up with Dean.
Felix Felicis opens the door both for Harry/Ginny and, later, Ron/Hermione to materialize by getting in the way of the existing ships :D
