D'Argo: "This is a peace memorial, let's not kill one another."
Rygel's graverobbing running gag continues, except now for once Zhaan is actually dead. :(
Can Jool return to her home? She's 22 years into her future, but she's not a fugitive, so far as I know. Even John isn't really a target anymore, considering both Crais and Scorpius have what they want from him. I assume for status quo reasons we're going to continue hanging out in the Uncharted Territories, though.
The setting/props are kind of goofy. Monty Python and the Holy Grail levels of "ow, wham."
The "modern day" galaxy has technology that's a lot more advanced than Earth's; I assume 500 years earlier it shouldn't be medieval, just because Earth was.
Aeryn to D'Argo: "Feeling left out? We're the only two who don't have voices in our heads." (John has Harvey-Scorpius, Stark has memories of Zhaan or else he's just crazy sometimes.)
Aeryn: "This is my way to get a ceasefire." The soldier versus scientist contrast again.
I guess that their tech has to be 500 years out of date so that John and Aeryn can be decisive with only two weapons, but still.
700 year lifespans. Are they going to show up again for continuity?
(In retrospect, answer is obviously no, and the fact that these people weren't there in the "present day" maybe was an indication.)
So the Venek just captured the mountain and stopped the conquests there? Feels unrealistic, considering how bad the other timelines got.
I feel like this would have fit better in season 1 for Aeryn's motivations, coming to terms that shock, horror, history is sometimes wrong and her militaristic brainwashers aren't necessarily the good guys, surprise! And the general "John's approach versus Aeryn's approach to problem-solving" themes. As it is, the fight scenes are janky, and it's basically a waste of time.

Jool: We don't have violence on our planet. Are they super-enlightened or is this just trying to show how much of a spoiled brat she is that she can't even help in a fight?
Chiana has learned Luxan burial rites somewhere along the way.
Chiana sees D'Argo miraculously alive and her first question is if he's purposely cheating on her, classic.

Aaaaand at the start of the new month this disappeared from Amazon Prime, gotta love the modern streaming system /o\ I'll probably cancel Prime until Wheel of Time comes back. I am a youngster who doesn't own any more permanent archival takes (I could afford them financially, just not a priority), so I'm probably going to put the blog on hiatus until further notice/I decide to invest in a new stream platform. Don't worry, I have lots more bad hot takes from book media etc. ;)
