Two more things make a post

Sometimes I see a cool link and am like "that's neat, someone should write a story about that" and sometimes I see one that makes me go "...why do I even freaking bother when life is already weirder than anything I could write." I just finished a draft of a story that's due at the end of the month and don't really want to rework it at this stage, but...click here if you don't want to sleep.
I complained about this already on
seekingferret 's blog but it's come up again, so:
Disclaimer: I am probably less caution-prone than many people in my circle. I am fully vaccinated and boosted, young, and not immuno-compromised. Now, if the organizers of a large event want to institute a mask mandate, that is absolutely their prerogative and it is not my place to criticize them for it! Other people have levels of risk tolerance that are different from mine! But. The flipside of that is, I would say, you also need to communicate that to people, because what levels of restriction are in place are going to influence people's choices to attend. (I think in the opposite direction even more so: like, if you're worried that older/more cautious people won't want to attend unless masks are mandatory, you should absolutely tell them that masks are mandatory, so that they can come!) And the time to communicate that to people is "as early as possible, but definitely before the deadline to sign up and make travel plans, because many people are not living in places where mask are mandated and won't psychically infer your intentions unless you speak to them."
Anyway, I've already budgeted money/time off for an event out of town, but I'm frustrated.
(This also plays into "does something feel more like vacation or work," and by that metric...church feels like the work category, which says...something. Albeit, walking a longer distance in hot weather to a church with different policies would probably be even more like work, so.)
