Question about Journal Community etiquette. (Warning: discussion of suicide)

So, uh, I tend not to subscribe to individual journals on DW/LJ with openID. But I read them! Normally by going to the friends/subscribers page of a community I'm interested in/a member of, and just sort of scanning through, to get a glimpse of who are the people interested in the same things as me, what they write about, yada yada yada.

So, as part of this normal browsing routine, I run into someone I've never interacted with before who is posting some seriously suicidal-ideation stuff. And, growing up you learn in school that, if someone seems suicidal, you contact their parents or the authorities! Except, we're young adults here, I have no idea who this person is and it seems to be not my place to intrude, it's not even like we have any mutual friends I can nudge and go "hey"...so what do I do? Just walk away?

What can you do. Every person has a right to choose weather or not they want to use or waste their life, doing something worth their time or offing them self's in more ways then possible. So, if you really do care that much to try and stop him/her via internet then id suggest doing just that. Give this person words of advise and keep tabs on his/her decision if weather or not he/she put action to his/her words.
