primeidealThe "they were created, they evolved, they have a plan!" which I'd also learned by osmosis was not in the first episode, but it now starts the "Previously On...."
I guess the "robots who don't know they're robots" is a thing from Blade Runner, to a lesser or greater extent depending on who you ask, but I' not sure that it really works, here. So they want us to think that spaceship-Boomer is a very confused sleeper agent--she wakes up finding one of the bombs in her own suitcase, she finds another in her scout ship, and she can't say "there's water on this planet" even when the screen says it. Is the cylon-consciousness only possessing her at critical moments? It feels very inefficient.
Meanwhile, planet-Sharon is like "I ran away from the spaceship to save you, let's get back." How did she coincidentally decide to be in the right place at the right time so spaceship-Boomer could step in on the spaceship and no one suspects Boomer of being missing?
In the previous episode, someone told spaceship-Boomer "you have to get over Helo, he's gone" and she's angrily like "I know." Now, she's kissing her boss (Gaeta?) so whatever the nature of her relationship with Helo was, it probably wasn't romantic, or she's just really quickly gotten over him in the time between episodes...
President: "I only have three outfits to wear for the rest of my life." Billy: "well, I think this outfit is fine!" "you know nothing about women!" Not only is she a strong independent leader who angsts over military crises, but she's also a Feminine Woman, because Real Women care about fashion!! Siiigh.
Baltar smokes, which stood out to me--I guess I sort of assume in the far future (or the far future of some other planet's humans) smoking will have become increasingly taboo and go out of fashion on its own. Maybe not?
