primeideal: Lee Jordan in a Gryffindor scarf (Harry Potter) (Lee Jordan)
[personal profile] primeideal
Hello, thank you for creating for me! I'm also primeideal on Ao3, and I'm requesting fic for all fandoms.

I think some of these prompts speak for themselves, so I haven't elaborated on all of them. Please feel free to use as much or as little as is helpful. For this exchange, here are some general thoughts that apply to all fandoms:

I like worlds where soulmates/soulbonds are not too deterministic, but also not too subverted. By the first thing, I mean, I don't want a world where every single person has a perfect romantic partner guaranteed for them. However, I would be interested in settings where maybe some people have soulmates and some people don't, or sometimes soulmates are platonic partners and sometimes they're romantic. By the second thing, I mean, I don't want the focus to be on "A and B are destined to be each other's romantic soulmates, but this story is going to be all about how A decided to screw destiny and fall in love with C instead!" If I requested a pair of characters, it's because I want the focus to be on their connection, romantic or otherwise.

I'm interested in most kinds of the "soulmate-identifying mark" trope--names, first words, last words, timers.

General Likes:
-canon-divergence AUs
-five things
-worldbuilding
-dialogue
-wit and wordplay
-nonstandard formats (documentation, epistolary, etc.)
-interactive fiction--I prefer formats like Twine to open-ended parsers.
-happy endings
-sad endings (when providing some measure of closure or melodrama; I'm fine with character death!)

General DNWs:
-second person POV (in "normal" prose, happy with it in IF or the like)
-moralizing/didactic stories (characters Learning An Important Lesson about the value of tolerance, etc.)
-allegories of current events and/or contemporary politics
-character or religion bashing
-cliffhanger endings
-themes of cynicism or futility, or that the (canon's) main plotlines "are for nothing"

Among Us

Crewmate/Impostor

Cross-species soulmates have different soulmate signs/indications
Enemy Is Their Soulmate
Not everybody has a soulmate/soulbond
Name Of Soulmate And Greatest Enemy Both Written On Body (But They're The Same Person)
The only person who can kill you is your soulmate
Soulmate-Identifying Marks

I think these are pretty straightforward--trapped on a ship with people whose secret identities you don't know and/or might be trying to kill you, now throw soulmates into the mix, hilarity (and/or tragedy) ensues!

Harry Potter

Hermione/Ron
Luna/Harry
Neville & Luna
Percy/Oliver
Regulus & Lily
Scorpius/Albus Severus

Not everybody has a soulmate/soulbond
Soulbonds - Determined by the Government via Bond Compatibility Tests -- imagine the Ministry of Magic making this a standardized test thing like OWLs and everyone trying to cheat on them!
Soulmate-Identifying Marks
Soulmates/soulbonds complicate time travel -- if you go with Scorpius/Albus Severus I would be happy to see something that includes "Cursed Child," but otherwise any ship/non-canon time travel is also fun!
Unrequited Soulmates Causes Hanahaki Disease -- there's probably something in the Hogwarts library about how to deal with this. Maybe?
Character without soulmate gets one after dying and coming back to life -- Harry seems like an obvious choice, but maybe Regulus and/or Lily survive the first war and shenanigans ensue?

Lupin

Assane Diop/Youssef Guedira

Criminal and Cop Soulmates
Not everybody has a soulmate/soulbond
How Soulmates Affect Society Worldbuilding -- do detectives use soulmate analysis in their investigations? Does Assane incorporate fake soulmates into his heists?
Soulmate-Identifying Marks
Identity Porn - Soulmate Goes By A Different Name Than The One on Soulmate's Skin -- maybe Youssef is convinced that his soulmark is actually an anagram and his colleagues think he's nuts.
Name Of Soulmate And Greatest Enemy Both Written On Body (But They're The Same Person)

Star Wars Original Trilogy

Leia/Han
Leia & Luke

Not everybody has a soulmate/soulbond
Platonic Soulmates - Platonic Soulmate(s) Just As Important As Romantic Soulmates(s)
Soulmates Inside the Family - Platonic
A doesn't believe in soulmates - B is in love with A (A and B are soulmates) -- Han is probably skeptical about soulmates in the same way he's skeptical about the Force
Dream sharing between soulmates -- maybe an extension of Force powers, or maybe Han starts sharing Leia's dreams and gets freaked out
Soulmate-Identifying Marks -- lots of different ways this could go. For the "timers" example, it would be funny if Leia can't tell whether her countdown is for Luke or Han. Or if Luke and Leia's timers have always been at zero?

Again, this is all optional, feel free to use as little or as much as is useful. Thank you so much!
