yuletide just posted their schedule, and my progress report on original stuff is..."I don't like writing, I like having written." Anyway, current status:

Original fic -- robots: about 1400 words in, will probably be about 3k-4k, want to be done with this by end of September
Original fic -- "werewolves": probably will try to revise this from novelette length to short story range, and make it all "found transcript." Goal--by end of 2021. Writing the novelette just for my own amusement was kind of what prompted me to start looking into short story markets and be like "so is there actually a market for this," so it has a special place in my heart, but I'm guessing I could do it differently.

mayyybe follow-ups to the Dune fic which are only plot bunnies at the moment

I don't know if there's a reason to post this, just self-indulgent panicking, bear with me. I have exciting game plans for the long weekend but probably won't be doing any writing then, and am not sure if I actually have the energy to persist with the robot fic, so am flailing.

In a fic I'm writing that is significantly AU, some non-human characters react to a certain Earthling thing in a somewhat different way than they do in canon. This is not meant to be a criticism of the canon in question, and more importantly, is not meant to be making a statement on the beliefs or mindsets or actions of humans who might find themselves in a somewhat tangentially related situation in RL, but not super related, because they're not aliens and don't have alien technology. The reason they do this, OOCly, is "because they're aliens and I think aliens would have a different take on things than humans do. Shrug."

This might make sense in a couple months. Or it'll just never come up. Hopefully that.
