All right, it's been a hot...minute, and I probably won't remember what these gibberish phone notes are referring to. (I should probably at least type them up in complete sentences as I go, even if I don't post individually.) The last four episodes of this season include a multi-parter, so my normal "groups of three" premise wasn't really going to work, so I decided to go with fewer spammy posts in a 5/4 division, and then stuff came up. But whatever.

Episode 16: The Locket )
Episode 17: The Ugly Truth )

Episode 18: A Clockwork Nebari )

Anyway, now that I'm caught up with this...probably will watch the new Stranger Things. ;)

Thanks for all the feedback on the conlang stuff! I don't think I really want to go whole hog on conlang purposes for this fic, but that's always an option. :D

The way I do these notes is I type stuff on my phone as I go, and then every few episodes write them up in complete sentences. So sometimes I will find myself not remembering what exactly something was a reference too. IDK, hope it's amusing for you guys. :P

Episode 4: Crackers Don't Matter )

I did find some fic--big theme is John/Aeryn making each other better and choosing each other over anything else, d'aww. Lots of longfic, too. Pretty surreal to go down the time capsule to 1999-era FFN. Like, this fic is not well-written and the prose is distracting, but the premise (why are humans and Sebaceans so similar?) is neat and not something I'd considered before. And it's one of the first 500 stories ever posted to the site!

Anyway, I might have a real rec later as part of a longer post that includes S2 stuff, but for now, moving on.

(Content note: Episode 3 deals a lot with suicidal behavior.)

Episode 1: Mind the Baby )

Episode 2: Vitas Mortas )Episode 3: Taking the Stone )

Featuring a two-part adventure, and the first half of a "cliffhanger" that continues in S2!  Fair warning, there are a lot of quotes I'm just gonna post because they are good quotes.

So here's my crazy plan before I start S2. Farscape was originally released in the 1999-2003 timeframe. (So I'm only 22 years late to the party, nice.) Those were some of the early days of FFN. Which means it might be feasible for me to backread some of the fic that was posted while the show was still on air, based only on the canon that existed then. (As well as stuff that's been backdated on Ao3.) Will it be worthwhile? Will I stick with it? Maybe, maybe not. But I feel like it's worth a try anyway. So there may be a reclist in the future! (Or not. No promises.)

Note: discussion of Episode 17 contains vague spoilers for later in the series, also TMI about my health issues.

We are officially halfway through the first season! And I think we've hit the point where the order of episodes is consistent, yay.

I'm not really a big TV person and I certainly wasn't watching a lot of multi-season dramas when this originally came out. So it's possible that I'm just easily impressed. But the sense of "they had a plan of where things are going, they had to rush some things at the end, but there's a throughline" is definitely working for me, it feels more than episodic, but the one-off characters have some depth and cleverness. Anyway, I'm definitely enjoying it so far! (And if there are more recommendations of things in this vein I should know about, let me know!)

So far, so good! Also I think the Amazon order is slightly different from the original airing order (maybe just for the first few episodes?), so I'm going to label these with their title.

Episode 3: Back and Back and Back to the Future )

Episode 4: Throne for a Loss )

Story time: lurking on an anonmeme I heard some people posting about character/ship dynamics in the early-2000s SF series Farscape which seemed very relevant to my interests. I then searched a different site to see if any of my gamer friends were into it, and sure enough, one of them really was. But Battlestar Galactica was a miss for me, and I wasn't super interested in purchasing a new streaming service...until Wheel of Time came along and I figured I had to give Prime Video a chance for that. Well, Farscape is on Prime Video, so I decided that, when I was slightly less busy with writing deadlines (ha), I'd at least try an episode or two and see if it was my thing. I have been spoiled for various plot developments so don't worry about spoilers if you choose to engage.

Episode 1 ) Episode 2 )
After two episodes it's way too early to make a call, but I am enjoying this so far, and John seems like a realistic bewildered but talented scientist guy, so thumbs up, and I'll keep watching! Not sure how frequent the liveblogs will be, I don't want to spam. But we'll see.
